At MaxSC we stress the importance of durability and staying healthy throughout your competitive season and have instituted a program called Athletic Injury Screening.
Importance of Injury Prevention
Injury prevention is an effort to prevent or reduce the severity of bodily injuries caused by external mechanisms, such as accidents, before they occur. Injury prevention is a component of safety and public health, and its goal is to improve the health of the population by preventing injuries and hence improving quality of life.
Did you know there are specific risk factors for many sports-related injuries? MaxSC looks for the following during your screen:
- Poor core stability
- Knee valgociy (an inward angle of your knees when you land from a jump)
- Weak hip muscles (especially gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus)
- Muscle group imbalances
- Too much training in one sport year round
